Before picture. The deck framing was about 30 years old, the deck boards were replaced at 15 years. Considerable rot and weathering and in need of complete replacement. |
Generally rotten and soft support joists, not properly hung or braced, not properly anchored to the house framing. |
New pressure treated framing with securely attached ledger boards and adjustable bases. |
The pressure treated framing and decking was left to weather naturally as a no maintenance (required) structure. |

Note the posts sitting directly on the base blocks, this method leads to wood rot at the base of the posts. |
The posts were changed out to be supported on adjustable collars and additional diagonal bracing was added. Go to the next page for additional photos of this project. |
